One honest picture of your training.
Racendo Index replaces the bare VO2max number with three transparent scores — Engine, Strain, and Readiness. Every score shows what fed it, how fresh the data is, and how it compares to the metrics you already know.
Engine
0–100Sustainable aerobic ceiling
Pace–HR efficiency at sub-threshold intensities, normalised by cadence and elevation. Replaces VO2max as the headline number.
Strain
0–100 + 7-day deltaRolling load vs. your baseline
7-day acute load vs. your 28-day chronic baseline, RPE-adjusted and capped by recovery signals when available.
Readiness
0–100 with bandHow prepared you are today
Freshness, sleep, HRV/RHR deltas, last-session feel and weather load — combined into a single band: Recover · Easy · Steady · Push · Peak.
How it compares.
Best-effort calibrations, not vendor numbers — so you always know what you're looking at.
| Other metric | Racendo equivalent | Note |
|---|---|---|
| VO2max (ml/kg/min) | Engine score (interpolated equivalent) | Still calculated under the hood — surfaced inside the Engine info sheet. |
| Strava Fitness & Freshness | Strain + Readiness | Same underlying idea (ATL/CTL/TSB) — different vocabulary, different bands, more inputs. |
| Garmin Training Status / VO2max | Engine + Strain bands | Works without a Garmin device — uses whatever signals you have, including manual entries. |
| Polar Cardio Load | Strain delta | Comparable load curve, but honest about data quality when HR is missing. |
| WHOOP Recovery / Body Battery | Readiness band | Recover → Easy → Steady → Push → Peak. No subscription required. |
Why a new system?
- Works with whatever signals you have — chest strap optional.
- Every score shows its inputs and a data-quality chip.
- No locked vendor ecosystem. Bring your Strava, Garmin, manual logs.
- Racendo Coach uses Engine, Strain and Readiness to adapt your week.
